Valve’s Steam Deck handheld gaming computer has seen its price cut by 10{f5ac61d6de3ce41dbc84aacfdb352f5c66627c6ee4a1c88b0642321258bd5462} to celebrate its sort-of first birthday. The bad news is that the Steam Deck discount is temporary until March 23 but the good news is that savings can be had in all regions that the gaming device is sold in. This is the first price cut that Valve has offered on its popular portable machine.

The Steam Deck is a year old and is celebrating its first birthday with a price cut. Although the official launch date for the Steam Deck was February 25, 2022, for the US, Canada, and Europe, Valve has decided that its birthday should conveniently coincide with the Steam Spring Sale. There is a not unattractive 10{f5ac61d6de3ce41dbc84aacfdb352f5c66627c6ee4a1c88b0642321258bd5462} discount being offered on the handheld gaming computer, which is available for all regions where the device is sold. This is the first time the Steam Deck has witnessed a price cut, and unsurprisingly it is only available for a limited time. The sale has already started and will run until 10 AM PDT March 23 (5 PM GMT).

This means gamers in the US can pick up the entry-level Steam Deck for US$359.10 at the moment, which is the variant of the AMD-powered device with 64 GB eMMC storage. For US$476.10, there is a Steam Deck with a tempting 256 GB NVMe SSD for storage and the 512 GB model can be picked up for US$584.10. In the UK, the relevant figures are £314.10 (down from £349), £413.10 (discounted from £459), and £512.10 (usually £569). Shoppers in Canada and Europe should find this 10{f5ac61d6de3ce41dbc84aacfdb352f5c66627c6ee4a1c88b0642321258bd5462} discount on the relevant Steam country sites while Komodo is supporting the same price cut (until 2 AM JST March 24) for buyers in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The Steam Deck has reportedly been quite a success for Valve, with over one million units shipped, which is a healthy figure considering the fierce competition and as the company’s first effort at a gaming handheld. The powerful portable machine comes with a custom APU from AMD that features a 4-core Zen 2 CPU part and an RDNA 2-based GPU part. With 16 GB of RAM and a 1200×800 display also onboard, the Steam Deck offers a lot of might for a reasonable price. Even demanding games such as Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk 2077 have recently been verified as fully compatible for playing on the Steam Deck.
